To work correctly, IPA requires that the proper version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed on your computer. An incompatible version of JRE can prevent IPA from launching or prevent certain features from working properly. Reinstalling JRE is a very quick and simple step you can take to remedy many of the problems encountered with IPA.

If you know which JRE version you need, please select one of the following options:

For PC platforms, we recommend JRE 1.5.0_10 or higher.

• A qualified* version of 32-bit JRE can be downloaded here: http://www.ingenuity.com/java_32bit/jre-windows.exe.
• A supported* version of 64-bit JRE can be downloaded here: http://www.ingenuity.com/java_64bit/jre-windows.exe.

For Mac platforms, we recommend the latest JRE available for your platform, available through Apple Inc.^® Software Updates from Software Update application in your Mac Control Panel OR from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macosandsoftware.

Please note that IPA has phased out support for JRE 1.4.2. We recommend all users to upgrade to a later version. Refer to the Helpful Information and Known Issues section of IPA Help for further clarification.

*Qualified indicates that it has been tested and qualified to work.  Supported indicates that the system should work, but has not been thoroughly tested.
