Step 1 — Obtain a username and password
If you do not have an IPA account, you can apply for one with the following link: https://analysis.ingenuity.com/pa/account/signup.html. After applying for an account, you will receive a Welcome email containing a username and password. In some cases, spam filters intercept the Welcome email. Check your Spam or Junk mail folder if you do not receive the email in your Inbox.
Step 2 — There are two ways to launch IPA
One method is via a Java technology called Web Start. IPA can also be launched as an applet (browser) based application.
We recommend using the Web Start version of IPA. This version can be launched with the following URL: https://analysis.ingenuity.com/pa
If the Web Start version is not working on your PC or Mac, we recommend using the Applet version. This can be launched using the following URL and clicking on "Start IPA Applet": https://analysis.ingenuity.com/pa/login/choice.jsp.
Both methods of launching IPA provide access to the same application, functionality and content. The only difference is in how the application is launched.
Step 3 — If IPA is not launching properly
- Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version
- Pop-Up Blockers
The first item to check is the version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on your computer. A frequently occurring problem is that there is an incompatible version of JRE running on the client computer.
For PC platforms, we recommend JRE 1.5.0_10 or higher. A qualified version of 32-bit Java can be downloaded here: http://www.ingenuity.com/java_32bit/jre-windows.exe and a supported version of 64-bit Java can be downloaded here: http://www.ingenuity.com/java_64bit/jre-windows.exe.
For Mac platforms, we recommend the latest JRE available for your platform, available through Apple Inc.® Software Updates from Software Update application in your Mac Control Panel OR from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macosandsoftware.
Please note that IPA has phased out support for JRE 1.4.2. We recommend all users to upgrade to a later version. Refer to the Helpful Information and Known Issues section of IPA Help for further clarification. An outdated or corrupted version of Java can prevent IPA from launching or prevent certain features from working properly. Reinstalling Java is a very quick and simple step you can take to remedy many of the problems encountered with IPA.
Please note that pop-up blockers must be disabled for the application to function in applet mode inside a web browser.
Step 4 — Contact Customer Support
