Step 1 — Obtain a username and password
If you do not have an IPA account, you can apply for one with the following link: https://analysis.ingenuity.com/pa/account/signup.html. After applying for an account, you will receive a Welcome email containing a username and password. In some cases, spam filters intercept the Welcome email. Check your Spam or Junk mail folder if you do not receive the email in your Inbox.

Step 2 — There are two ways to launch IPA
One method is via a Java technology called Web Start. IPA can also be launched as an applet (browser) based application.

We recommend using the Web Start version of IPA. This version can be launched with the following URL: https://analysis.ingenuity.com/pa

If the Web Start version is not working on your PC or Mac, we recommend using the Applet version. This can be launched using the following URL: https://analysis.ingenuity.com/pa/login/applet.jsp

Both methods of launching IPA provide access to the same application, functionality and content. The only difference is in how the application is launched.

Step 3 — If IPA is not launching properly
The first item to check is the version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on your computer. A frequently occurring problem is that there is an incompatible version of JRE running on the client computer.

For PC platforms, we recommend JRE 1.5.0_10 or higher. A qualified version of Java can be downloaded here: http://www.ingenuity.com/java/jre-windows.exe

For Mac platforms, we recommend JRE 1.5.0.

Outdated or corrupted version of Java can prevent IPA from launching or prevent certain features from working properly. Reinstalling Java is a very quick and simple step you can take to remedy many of the problems encountered with IPA.
