August IPA Content Release

With our latest content release, Ingenuity Systems is significantly expanding IPA content in key therapeutic areas, enabling you to better understand the molecular basis of disease, identify novel points of therapeutic intervention, and prioritize biomarkers from large sets of candidate genes and metabolites.

IPA 7.1 Highlights

Details

Metabolite content from the Human Metabolome Database (HMDB):

The Human Metabolome Database (HMDB, http://www.hmdb.ca/) contains high-quality detailed information about small molecule metabolites found in the human body. Ingenuity has integrated the findings from this database into the Ingenuity Knowledge Base, with a specific emphasis on the following findings:

  • Metabolite detection in biofluids: Over 11,000 findings describing the localization of 3,600 metabolites in biofluids from normal adults, as well as patients with a specific disease. Findings include details about metabolite concentration, and gender of the patient.
  • Metabolite subcellular localization: Over 5,200 findings that predict subcellular localization information for 4,300 metabolites.
  • Metabolite tissue localization: Over 4,400 findings that describe detection of 2,000 metabolites in normal tissues.

This metabolite content will enhance the Contextual Data Analysis features in IPA by enabling you to identify key subsets of metabolites your pathways and networks based on their detection in a particular biofluid or tissue.

New drug-to-disease knowledge from DrugBank and Clinicaltrials.gov:

Additional drug-to-disease knowledge supports drug mechanism of action and mechanism of toxicity studies.

  • Additional content from Clinicaltrials.gov (http://clinicaltrials.gov/) has been structured and modeled in the Ingenuity Knowledge Base, including:
    • 700 new relationships between clinical candidates and the diseases and indications they have been developed for
    • Updated clinical trial status and drug approval information
  • Drug information from DrugBank (http://www.drugbank.ca/) including 300 new relationships between approved drugs and diseases, and 15,000 new brand names added as synonyms to the Ingenuity Knowledge Base.

Additional Content in Key Therapeutic Areas, including:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease
    • 14,000 new findings from over 800 articles including 1,300 gene-to-disease associations involving 250 genes
  • Infectious Disease/Immune Response
