Researchers discuss their work and the importance of performing biological analysis on experimental data
Redwood City, CA – June 7, 2011 – Ingenuity® Systems, a leading provider of information and analysis solutions for life science researchers, today announced the start of the second annual Scientific Showcase being held in Edison, New Jersey, and Waltham, Massachusetts. The events will highlight how researchers across academic and commercial institutions are using IPA for analysis and interpretation of experimental data including microRNA, next-generation sequencing, RT-PCR, and ‘omics data.
The objective of the meeting is to bring researchers together from diverse research areas to discuss the importance of performing biological analysis on experimental data. The community will be discussing how using tools like IPA to examine data in the biological context of established and known molecular relationships, biological processes, and relationships to disease, can provide a faster and more reliable, replicable way to identify key insights from complex data. Case studies will highlight how biological interpretation is critical to quickly narrow in on relevant information and examine data within a consistent set of biological references. Presentations will include: Using IPA to explore microRNA impacts on molecular mechanisms of disease, using RNA-Seq Analysis of NGS patient data to identify prostate cancer mechanisms, and using IPA to identify and prioritize biomarkers.
Speakers from commercial and academic labs will discuss how IPA has helped with their particular research. I-Ming Wang, Ph.D., from Merck, will discuss how he used IPA to predict adverse events by profiling the blood of vaccines and adjuvants in non-human primates. And Meredith Prysak, Ph.D. from Aestus Therapeutics Inc., will discuss how she used IPA to accelerate discovery and development of new pain therapeutics.
